Volkswagen sends its largest motorhome facelift to Düsseldorf

The latest version of the Grand California will be attending the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf in Germany on August 29–September 7, 2025. The camper doesn’t look too different from before, but benefits from a well-appointed interior, some upmarket trim and a wide list of new options.

The company promises us an in-depth tour of the new Grand California in late August, but in the meantime, these two teaser pics are all we have. Both variants of the van – the standard model 600 and the stretched 680 – remain on the list, so you may choose based on your space requirements. Since both are based on the impressively large Volkswagen Crafter chassis, you can look forward to an internal shower cabin and a WC.

The trim is inspired by Mediterranean yacht interiors, the automaker says. It’s mostly light grey now with matching natural wood accents and some things, like the sink and the table top, offset in a darker shade of grey. The overall look is decidedly more modern than in the old version.

Speaking of the table: it’s new and mobile, meaning you can take it outside for a picnic or just some outdoor cooking. The upper cupboards have special nets installed to keep the items inside from shuffling around while in transit. Window curtains are listed as optional and can be ordered in a number of thickness variants for an optimum balance between sunlight and shade.
