Volkswagen introduced the Golf R 20 Years edition in May this year to mark the 20th birthday of the classic Golf R32. Now, the hot hatch arrives in the United States under a slightly different name and with a starting price of $44,940.
The German automaker plans to produce 1,800 examples for the USA within the next year, offering them in black, white and blue finishes. The former two sport Lapiz Blue side mirrors, while the blue car gets black mirror caps for contrast. 19-inch Estoril wheels fill out the arches.
Uniquely for North America, the Anniversary Edition will ship with six-speed manual transmission by default. Buyers will still be able to opt for seven-speed DCT.
Power is supplied by the VW EA888 four-cylinder engine rated at 333 PS (328 hp / 245 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, which drives all four wheels.
