Volkswagen may decide not to produce the next generation of its Jetta sedan.
With the model being four years old already, it is supposed to get updated within the next few years. According to sources quoted by Automotive News, however, the company is unwilling to invest into the next generation seeing how unpopular the model is.
Reportedly, Volkswagen intends to give the Jetta a facelift instead. If true, it would serve as an indirect indicator of the company’s plans to discontinue the model for good.
In earlier news, Volkswagen admitted that it was considering taking the Golf hatchback out of production as well. Representatives complained about strict environmental laws making the development of new generations too costly to justify.
