Polish tuner proves VW Passat can perform 2.2 times better

Poland-based performance tuner AW Racing has released a video where it tests its latest creation, namely, a Volkswagen Passat dialed to 670 hp (500 kW) and 840 Nm (620 lb-ft) of torque. To put things into perspective: the large family car leaves the assembly lines with mere 300 hp (224 kW) under the hood.

The scope of the project is predictably large, so let us glance over just the highlights. The Volkswagen Passat R36 4Motion (3C) depicted here benefits from new turbine chargers, tuner’s in-house-designed air intake system, and numerous tweaks and reinforcements for the stock transmission (DQ500). The gigantic power boost also necessitated upgrading the brakes and the exhaust system, and, of course, a Bilstein suspension kit was used to make the ride more responsive and agile.

As a result, the family wagon zaps from nothing to 100 km/h in lightning-fast 3.1 seconds, hits 200 km/h 7.3 secs later and finishes a quarter-mile run by 11 s. We would imagine giving it drag-spec tires would help improve these times even further.
