The much-hyped Zeekr 9X will come equipped with an audio system designed in the UK by Naim, a long-standing partner of Bentley. This is the first time an SUV from China gets premium audio from Naim.
The system comprises 32 speakers, including nine 3D surround sound satellites and two subwoofers. Some of the speakers are built into the seat headrests. Boasting a combined power of 3,868 watts, the system sets a new world record for in-car audio – at least, according to Zeekr. It’s also impressively hi-fi, covering the range from 20 Hz to 40 kHz.
Two years ago, Bentley, Mulliner and Naim joined efforts to design a custom audio setup for the automaker’s Batur coupe. It was a £25,000 option at the time.
As for the Zeekr 9X, it’s the Chinese company’s latest flagship vehicle equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and two e-motors outputting a combined 1,381 PS (1,362 hp / 1,016 kW). Aside from hypercar-rivaling power, it comes equipped with a giant 70-kWh battery pack not currently used in any other hybrid vehicle.
Prices are expected to start from 600,000 Yuan (just under $84,000).
