Brabus unveils ‘hot’ Smart Ultimate E

Not too long ago, car manufacturer Smart decided to abandon its ICE-powered car range and concentrate on the fully electric EQ instead. In the meantime, German tuner Brabus presented a tuned pre-facelift version of the car.

Compared to the Smart EQ ForTwo Cabrio, the Brabus Ultimate E features larger 18-inch forged wheels and a wide body kit. The cabin has been thoroughly re-trimmed and now sports high-quality leather, Alcantara and aluminum. The powertrain supports two new modes: Sport and Eco.

The engine gets 11 extra horsepower and 20 Newton-meters of torque and is therefore now rated at 92 hp (69 kW) and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft). The compact accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 10.9 seconds, maxes out at 130 km/h (81 mph) and runs dry after 125 km (77 mi) of driving.

The above specs pale in comparison to the Ultimate E Concept the company introduced two years ago. That one had 204 hp (152 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, and could complete the same sprint in mere 4.5 seconds.

The modded Smart comes at around double the price of the original one. Whereas a Smart EQ ForTwo Cabrio costs €26,380, a Brabus Ultimate E will set you back €58,845. The production run will be kept to 28 vehicles.
