Bentley pieces together the first Bacalar roadster engine

Bentley has good news for the twelve lucky buyers of the Bacalar roadster: the factory in Crewe, England has completed producing the first ultra-sophisticated W12 for their luxury rides.

The British automaker believes the engine to be the paragon of technological perfection worldwide. Its 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque enable the topless car to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in a breezy three and a half seconds, and then go all the way up to 322 km/h (200 mph). Responsible for the transmission is an eight-speed automatic gearbox with pre-selection.

Each engine unit takes six hours and a half for 45 people to put together. Looking back, Bentley has produced over 100,000 W12 engines over the past 19 years.

The £1,500,000 Bentley Bacalar has been designed by Mulliner based on the Continental GT platform. The in-house tuner gave it a completely new body, leaving only the door handles intact.
