20-year-old Bowler Wildcat costs as much as a new BMW X5

This Bowler Wildcat 200 has scored multiple victories at Rally Dakar, Baja de France and other such races, and was the star of the 2005 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now, with around 18,000 km (11,200 miles) under its belt, it goes up on sale for £60,000-£68,000 (estimated top bid).

The Wildcat came to replace the Tomcat 21 years ago. The name Bowler was already familiar to some of the athletes, while others learned about it from Top Gear. The car features a stainless-steel spaceframe with an integrated roll cage, glass-fiber bodywork, and certain elements borrowed from a first-gen Land Rover Defender.

The model shipped with gasoline eight-cylinder engines 4 to 5 liters large and two diesels 2.2 and 2.5 liters large. An inbuilt hydraulic lift useful for replacing wheels or other such tasks came as a paid option.

This specific Bowler Wildcat has a chassis number 004. After some maintenance and repairs, its 5.0-liter Rover V8 engine churns out 338 PS (333 hp / 249 kW). The car received new brakes and differential earlier this year, and was repainted in red.

According to the seller, the car is road-legal until June 2022. Last time it went up on sale was this spring, but no one bought it.
