Aito M9 lands in China with Maybach-style rear seats

Huawei and Seres have launched another Aito M9 SUV in China. Originally introduced as a three-row six-seater (see video), it later received a five-seat variant and is now coming to the market with just four. As you have probably guessed, it’s a particularly deluxe vehicle inspired by the Mercedes-Maybach lineup and priced from 559,800 CNY ($78,500 USD).

The new M9 has just two rows of two seats. The rear ones are equipped with heating, ventilation and massage functions. They also feature power-assisted ottomans and can recline into what the company calls “Zero Gravity mode” at a push of a button. The armrest in the middle houses a couple of cup holders and a box for small items.

Only the range-topping Aito M9 Ultra can be ordered in this four-seat version. You can still choose between a hybrid and a full-electric powertrain. The former delivers 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW) and takes the luxury SUV from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds. A 1.5-liter engine supplies extra electricity, and a 52-kWh battery pack can be charged to get up to 1,417 km (880 miles) of range.

In turn, the EV version packs superior 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW) but makes do with just 605 km (376 miles) of range coming from a 100-kWh battery pack. It is a slightly faster sprinter with 4.7 seconds from standstill to 100 km/h.

The four-seat M9 Ultra is the priciest car in its lineup with the abovementioned starting price of 559,800 CNY. An entry-level five-seat variant costs 469,800 CNY, and the six-seater comes at 10,000 CNY extra.
