2026 Aito M9 presents specs ahead of premiere

Aito’s current flagship, the full-size M9 SUV, has gone through its first refresh since launch in late 2023. While it hasn’t changed too much on the outside, it has received stronger e-motors and more up-to-date tech to stay competitive.

On the outside, you can recognize the new Aito M9 by the added chrome strips between the headlights and taillights, half-concealed door handles and wheels that look like they were taken off a 1980s-era rally car. There are also some new exterior finish options on the list, and that’s about it.

Size-wise, the Chinese crossover is as big as ever at 5,285 mm (206.4 inches) long, 2,026 mm (79.1 inches) wide and 1,845 mm (72.1 inches) tall with 3,125 mm (122.1 inches) between the axles. The interior has yet to be revealed, but the local media believe it won’t be much different, offering a choice between four, five and six seats as usual.

For options, Aito promises buyers an improved active suspension setup that now scans the road ahead for any irregularities, as well as an advanced ADAS package from Huawei utilizing as many as six LiDARs.

Like before, the M9 is going on sale in hybrid and fully electric variants. The former brings together a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) and two e-motors. The one at the front sends 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW) to the wheels, while the one in the back is good for 377 PS (372 hp / 277 kW). According to preliminary data, the combined output comes to 676 PS (667 hp / 497 kW). That’s significantly more than the 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW) of the pre-facelift version.

In turn, the EV reportedly gets the same 676 PS from its dual motors – up from 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW). It also benefits from a larger 120-kWh battery pack. The old version had a 100-kWh pack and could cover up to 630 kilometers (391 miles) per the CLTC standard.

There’s no mention of a premiere date yet, but we expect the 2026 Aito M9 to debut at the Auto China show next week.
