It takes five days to print a single Apollo Evo exhaust system

Supercar maker Apollo Automobili has shed more light on its upcoming Evo coupe. All 10 units planned for production will feature an exclusive 3D-printed exhaust system touted as the world’s largest of its kind.

Dubbed the Dragon Skin Exhaust, it takes 123 hours – more than five days – to produce just one such system using titanium powder and lasers. The name owes itself to the exterior pattern of the pipes, which resembles reptilian scales. These scales are designed to dissipate extreme amounts of heat and aren’t attainable at anywhere near this level of manufacturing precision using traditional methods, Apollo claims.

When the Evo starts shipping before the end of the current year, it’s expected to do so with a 6.3-liter V12 under the hood dialed to 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 765 Nm (564 lb-ft) of torque. Hitting 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill is a matter of 2.7 seconds for the track-only machine.
