New Audi A4 Avant spied testing with large displays inside

As Mercedes is launching the new C-Class Estate and BMW has introduced the 3 Series Touring, Audi obviously won’t want to take its time unveiling the next A4 Avant. A pre-production variant thereof has just been spotted testing with dual tailpipes.

If you look closely at the upper left corner of the rear window, you will see a sticker saying ‘PHEV’, which stands for ‘plug-in hybrid electric vehicle’. Another highlight can be found in the cabin: there is a new digital dashboard and a floating infotainment screen, both clearly in view.

Closer examination reveals a volume knob on the center console and a hexagonal steering wheel with touch-based controls on it. The drive selector and the parking brake also use touch interfaces now, as does the HVAC panel.

Elsewhere, the next-gen A4 Avant comes equipped with slimmer headlights, a mesh grille at the front and redesigned bumpers. You may watch the video for a reminder of what the current iteration looks like.
