Audi SQ5 emanates RS vibes with ABT tuning magic applied

Since Audi still hasn’t produced a proper RS Q5, German tuning company ABT Sportsline decided to steal the initiative. The parts are already available, though you’ll need to contact the vendor for pricing details.

If you’ve been following ABT and its projects, you know they design body kits that are rather low-key compared to the competition. This is absolutely the case here as well, with the SUV rocking little besides a subtle front splitter, a body-matched rear diffuser and a roof spoiler. On the upside, all three look like they were designed and manufactured in-house by Audi, so that’s a solid advantage.

Complementing the sporty look is a set of all-new, 22-inch ABT Evo wheels in gloss black. This is the first time we see the Evo wheel installed on a car; you’ll find it in the Sport section of the catalog. If a more conservative look is your cup of tea, the tuner suggests 20-inch Sport GR rims for the SQ5.

Rounding off the exterior modifications are four 102mm (4-inch) exhaust tips in matte black. The large diameter of the stainless-steel finishers lends the car a more assertive stance, although it still remains understated compared to some wilder builds.

Interior novelty boils down to the usual branded floor mats and puddle lamps – nothing we haven’t seen many times before. Where things get interesting is the engine bay. The stock 3.0-liter V6 gets tuned to 440 PS (434 hp / 324 kW) and 600 Nm (441 lb-ft) of torque with the help of an external ECU. That’s 73 PS (72 hp / 54 kW) and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) above stock.

All options except the roof spoiler should be compatible with the coupe-like Audi SQ5 Sportback, the company says.
