BMW ActiveHybrid 3 gets a boost to 390 hp / 290 kW

The first hybrid-powered BMW 3 Series came out as early as 2012. The car entered retail equipped with a powertrain producing up to 340 hp (254 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lbft) of torque. Today, however, buying the pricey (€52,300) hybrid no longer seems so attractive, especially since there are multiple diesel models with similar specs and a lower price tag around.

Taiwanese tuner Autowerks Bangkok has a solution for those who want an extra bit of oomph out of their BMW ActiveHybrid 3. Once installed, the power kit boosts it to much more respectable 390 hp (291 kW) and 535 Nm (395 lbft) of torque. From the technical point of view, the upgrade boils down to remapping the ECU (Mcchip-DKR Stage 2), installing a Wagner Competition intercooler and replacing the stock exhaust with a Mcpipes Downpipe system including a 200-cell sports catalyst.

To make that power show, Autowerks Bangkok has fitted the Bavarian sedan with M Performance parts and wheels.
