BMW 8 Series Kyoto Edition basks in classical Japanese ornaments

BMW has designed an ultra-exclusive special version of its 8 Series Gran Coupe called Kyoto Edition. Each of only three cars produced boasts handmade decorations styled after classical Japanese drawings and costs 21,500,000 Japanese Yen (around 202,500 USD).

You can tell the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe Kyoto Edition from its production counterpart by engravings on the b-pillars and 20-inch multi-spoke chrome-coated rims. Most of the specialty can be found inside the car, where renowned artist Shiho Okada himself decorates the center console with an ornament apparently symbolizing “the art of running”.

Other major features of the release include bi-color leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and woven pillows trimmed with silk and suede.

Other than that, the Kyoto Edition is technically identical to the M850i xDrive Gran Coupe, meaning that it comes powered by a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 rated at 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW). An eight-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the axles.
