After showing us the U8 SUV and U9 supercar, BYD has announced the third production vehicle in its Yangwang luxury lineup: U6. Styled as a saloon, it has a record-low drag ratio of 0.195, making it the world’s lowest-drag production sedan, CarNewsChina reports.
The manufacturer has yet to reveal any further details, but the drag ratio alone can give the BYD Yangwang U6 a marketing edge over the Lucid Air, the Tesla Model S and the Mercedes-Benz EQS.
BYD flashed a single presentation slide of the car during a themed conference this weekend. Despite that, we already have spy photos of the same car. According to them, it looks much like the supercar named U9, which also hadn’t started shipping yet. The final slide shows a sleek sedan with cameras instead of side mirrors and aerodynamic wheels, as well as assorted active body kit parts.
It seems reasonable for the U6 to share its underlying tech with other Yangwang-series EVs, too. As such, it may debut with the same quad-motor powertrain rated above 1,000 horsepower (750 kW) as the U8. Rumor has it that the U6 may additionally get a number of hybrid options, including range extender.
