Chinese carmaker Changan has unveiled the Uni-T, an SUV marketed towards the younger audiences and packing an unusual design alongside some innovative technology.
The car’s 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine churns out 180 hp (134 kW) and up to 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission type is seven-speed dual-clutch.
The Uni-T measures 4,515 mm (14.81 ft.) long, 1,870 mm (6.14 ft.) wide and 1,565 mm (5.13 ft.) tall with 2,710 mm (7.12 ft.) separating the axles. Available tire sizes include 225/60 R17, 225/55 R19, and 245/45 R20.
Nappa leather wraps the cabin, which notably features dual 10.25-inch displays serving as the dash panel and the infotainment screen. The gear selector is a fixed knob with touch controls.
On the technical side of things, the SUV boasts an SAE Level 3 self-driving system that includes six cameras and 17 sensors to recognize objects up to 200 m (656 feet) away with ±10cm (±4in) precision.
The Changan Uni-T will go sale in China in June this year. Later on, the Uni lineup (which is Chinese for ‘Gravity’) will expand to incorporate other vehicles targeted towards other customers.
