Chery has revealed the engine specifications of its new crossover SUV named the Tansuo 06 (or Explore 06). The car was previously known as ‘TJ-1’. Per AutoHome, its petrol version will become available in China on July 20, with a hybrid set to follow later.
The first spec to reach the market will offer 1.6 liters of displacement, 197 PS (194 hp / 145 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is seven-speed DCT, and all-wheel drive is available as a paid option.
By the end of the year, a hybrid is scheduled to arrive with a 1.5-liter engine and two electric motors. It will have around 100 km (62 miles) of battery range extendable to roughly 1,400 km (870 miles) with a full tank.
In terms of dimensions, the SUV is 4,538 mm long, 1,898 mm wide and 1,680 mm tall with 2,672 mm between the axles. The exterior is rugged-looking, suggesting that Chery is marketing it towards off-road enthusiasts, too.
A laconic dashboard with large air vents and a 13.2-inch vertical display in the middle are the main interior features.
The company will allegedly use the name ‘Tansuo 06’ exclusively in China. The export version of the car will be known as ‘Jaecoo J7’ and have a different grille with vertical bars.
