Chery Tiggo 3 enjoys its 5th facelift in China, drops CVT

It has been 15 years since Chinese car manufacturer Chery began shipping its Tiggo 3 crossover. Many other manufacturers would consider retiring a model at this age, or otherwise taking it to the next generation – but Chery seems happy with giving the Tiggo its next (fifth!) refresh.

The 2020MY soft-roader comes with a redesigned front bumper, a stylish-looking radiator grille, massive air intakes, and a chrome bar that appears to cleave the front end in half.

The interior has much less to show for the update. There are slightly reshaped buttons on the steering wheel, new, brown seat upholstery and occasional faux bronze inserts – but that would be it.

Available tech includes power steering, roll stabilization (now available in all configurations) and a new 1.6-liter engine with 126 hp (94 kW), which comes as a replacement for the outdated 1.5-unit with 116 hp (86 kW). The CVT transmission is no longer available, either, so the CUV ships strictly front-driven with a five-speed stick shift on board.

Prices for the 2020 Chery Tiggo 3 begin as low as $8,400.
