Chery Tiggo 9 gets refreshed in China

Chery has updated its Tiggo 9 full-size SUV also known as the Jaecoo J8. Some images of the domestic version have been uploaded to the local Ministry of Industry database.

Based on them, the crossover looks not much different all around. The air intakes and the radiator grille at the front are new, the headlights are visibly larger and the DRLs are L-shaped now. These changes are accompanied by different tailpipes at the rear end and a revised rear bumper complete with a number plate holder (it used to be on the tailgate).

Coming in at 4,853 mm (191 inches) long, 1,930 mm (76 inches) wide and 1,718 mm (67.6 inches) tall with 2,820 mm (111 inches) between the axles, the China-spec Tiggo 9 is slightly taller and longer than its predecessor, but otherwise about the same size. Customers will be choosing from wheels sized 18, 19 and 20 inches in diameter.

As usual, the patent filing contains only one powertrain option – a 2.0-liter turbo four-pot mated to an eight-speed AT for 261 PS (257 hp / 195 kW). Other options may be announced later.

The premiere date is still pending.
