Old Chevy K5 Blazer morphs into a low-slung street racer

Velocity Restorations took a different route with this K5 Blazer, turning what was essentially a retro off-roader into a slammed urban ride.

For starters, the body of the 54-year-old SUV was transplanted onto a custom chassis built by Roadster Shop. It ended up with modern suspension parts, Wilwood brakes and a China Gray exterior paintwork – just slightly darker than Audi’s famous Nardo Gray shade. Also, while most Velocity projects wind up with a removable cloth top, the owner of this example opted for a satin-black hardtop.

With the new chassis at their disposal, it was easy for the tuner to replace the stock engine with a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It sends 467 PS (460 hp / 343 kW) to the rear end and makes itself heard with the assistance of a Borla exhaust system.

As one would expect in a project as extensive as this, the interior was also completely overhauled. It ended up with Dakota Digital gauges, an infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and a Focal audio system. The passenger space was trimmed in soft leather with textile inserts.

No pricing details were released, but similar restomods from Velocity Restorations (see video) start around $275,000 before options.
