Chinese EV maker Denza has released a software update for its all-electric Z9 GT hatchback. The large car can now perform autonomous drift stunts, and the only guidance it needs from the driver isn’t what you probably think it is, reports Carscoops.
To be entirely specific, the driver must enter a corresponding menu in the infotainment system, engage the drift mode, and then draw a shape on the screen using their finger. The car will scan the surroundings and execute the program if it finds enough free space for the maneuvers involved.
In case you missed it, Denza’s Z GT is a full-size luxury hatchback running a three-motor powertrain. With 1,156 PS (1,140 hp / 850 kW) and 1,210 Nm (892 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal, it should be perfect for drifting. That said, Denza also has two other variants of the Z9 listed for sale: a single-motor EV and a tri-motor serial hybrid. It’s unclear whether these two will receive a similar update in the future.
