Dodge’s new Charger will be coming in many forms, and the company has just revealed the one that’s an all-electric coupe. Here are all of its technical specifications.
The production car is based on the Charger Daytona Concept from the summer of 2022 and shares the name with it. There are only two AWD trims to choose from right now – R/T and Scat Pack.
In its base spec, the EV delivers 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW) and 548 Nm (404 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. The top spec bumps up the output to 670 PS (661 hp / 493 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. The important caveat is that you can only achieve this peak power output in a special mode called PowerShot. It is activated from a dedicated button on the steering wheel and is limited to 15 seconds. The standard output is 40 PS (40 hp / 30 kW) lower than that.
The R/T needs 4.7 seconds to go from standstill to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) and completes a quarter-mile run in 13.1 seconds. The Scat Pack cuts these times down to 3.3 and 11.5 seconds, respectively. On the upside the R/T has a slightly higher max acceleration of 220 km/h versus 216 km/h (136 vs 134 mph).
Both Chargers rely on a 400-volt, 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack capable of fast 350kW charging. The R/T gets 510 km (317 miles) of range from it, while the Scat Pack gets 418 km (260 miles). Topping up the battery from 20 to 80 percent takes roughly 28 minutes.
The electronics on board offers a dedicated Drift Mode for donut enthusiasts, as well as two racing modes.
Like the show car from 2022, the Dodge Charger Daytona EV comes equipped with a special body kit part called the R-Wing to maximize downforce at the front end. It also makes use of a feature named Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, which imitates the soundtrack of a petrol V8.
The production is set to begin in mid-2024. All-electric sedan versions and two petrol powertrains are expected to arrive in early 2025. Out of these two ICE options, the Charger Sixpack S.O. makes 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW) and the Charger Sixpack H.O. manages 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW).
All pricing details are pending.
