The future of the automotive industry looks decidedly electric right now, but the V8 Hellcat will not just surrender to the march of time – not before the Durango SUV comes back in its most ambitious version so far.
The range-topping Durango SRT Hellcat debuted in 2020 with a 6.2-liter V8 boosted to 720 PS (710 hp / 530 kW). Despite having the body of a bulky three-row SUV, it could sprint 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.5 seconds and run the quarter-mile strip in 11.5 seconds.
The production term of the original Durango SRT Hellcat had been officially limited to 12 months at first, but overwhelming demand forced Dodge to extend it time and again. Now, the company has once again found that the market hype is strong around the high-end SUV, so it will be getting another production run soon.
Pricing details remain to be announced, but you could buy the Durango Hellcat starting from $82,000 last year. Ordering will become available in September, with the shipments set for early 2023.
