A very special Dodge Viper modified by American Specialty Cars paid a visit to the Detroit Motor Show in 2006, boasting a striking exterior and a number of technical upgrades. It surfaced on sale last weekend and quickly found a new owner who handed over $166,777 for it.
The exterior finish is known as “Arctic Ice Pearl” and works especially well with orange and blue accents. The entire body kit including the front splitter, the hood, the skirts, the air intake bezels and the whole rear end was redone in carbon fiber, dropping the curb weight by around 45 kilograms (100 pounds). As a result, the muscle car can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.47 seconds.
The eight-liter V10 under the hood received an intake diffuser from McLaren Performance Technologies to hit the wheels with 615 PS (607 hp / 452 kW). The six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive system remained as is.
A stainless-steel exhaust system rounded off the list of mods. The cabin was allowed to stay stock. The mileage is negligible at 129 km (80 miles).
