An 18-year-old Ferrari 575M Superamerica is up for grabs in Russia for an asking price of 48.5 million RUB, or $598,000. The seller claims the car is exotic enough to warrant the price.
The Superamerica convertible was originally designed based on the 575M Maranello coupe produced in 2002 through 2006. However, while there were 2,056 coupes made in total, only 559 convertibles rolled off the lines. Out of those 43 were manual, but the one on sale is automatic.
The folding top is made of electrochromic glass that adjusts the light transmission based on sun intensity and can even switch between opaque and transparent at a push of a button. When folded, it doesn’t prevent the trunk from being used.
Body reinforcements mean that the convertible weighs 60 kilos (132 pounds) more than its coupe counterpart. To compensate, Ferrari ramped up the V12 output from 515 to 540 metric horsepower. When it was launched, the model was the world’s fastest production car without a fixed roof with a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph).
The listing mentions 4,343 kilometers, or 2,700 miles, of use. The car underwent extended maintenance in an authorized dealership this spring.
