Check out a Ferrari with Land Cruiser amounts of ground clearance

One of this year’s SEMA show highlights was the Elevato, a custom Ferrari GTC4 Lusso that GlasWerks DMV rebuilt for off-roading. The U.S. tuning company redesigned the shooting brake to have 230 mm (9 inches) of clearance – more than the 180 mm (7 inches) of Ferrari’s own Purosangue and on par with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

The U.S.-based tuning company said it would be happy to take more orders for similar conversions. Prices start from $175,000 for the conversion alone – you are still expected to provide the donor car.

As one might guess, just replacing the springs in the suspension isn’t going to cut it for a build as extreme as this. The tuner says it rides on a completely new suspension setup with different control arms, sway bars, semi-axles and steering links. MCS shocks and Eibach springs allow the wheel arches to accommodate off-road tires.

The 6.3-liter V12 under the hood was tuned from its original 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW) to 758 PS (748 hp / 558 kW), but GlasWerks DMV didn’t delve into any details.

There is no mistaking the exterior of this GTC4 Lusso. With a bespoke radiator grille, 30% brighter headlights and auxiliary lights all around, it looks like an expedition vehicle. A roof rack, towing hooks and undercarriage guards reinforce that impression. Tire pressure control is included, too.

Remarkably, the tuning company insists that it won’t be making any “garage queens”. The goal is to create Ferrari off-roaders that their owners will be able to drive on rough terrain on a regular basis.
