Meet Ford Bronco DR, a V8-powered Baja monster that you can buy

Attention, Ford Bronco fans! This may not be the Bronco Raptor you anticipated so much, but nor is it a fancy one-off rally car. Ford will be making 50 such V8-powered Bronco DR models capable of jumping from sand dune to sand dune.

The abbreviation stands for ‘Desert Racer’. The company is reluctant to reveal all the specs now, but it does mention that a five-liter V8 will slot in under the hood and have ‘at least’ 405 PS (402 hp / 300 kW). A ten-speed automatic transmission, just like the one found in the Ford F-150, will carry the momentum to the wheels.

Other upgrades from the standard Bronco include robust suspension, better approach and departure angles, 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires, a full-fledged safety cage protecting two people in bucket seats, a Motec C187 display, and more.

The limited series of 50 Bronco DR is set to come out in late 2022 and not be street-legal. Prices will begin from $200,000 USD.
