Having had a blast modifying countless traditional off-roaders, California-based tuning firm Icon 4×4 switched its attention to the emerging EV market. This all-electric Ford Bronco is its first project in this field, and it took over 5,000 hours to bring to life.
The SUV packs two electric motors sending a combined 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) and 594 Nm (440 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels. It sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. In usual Icon 4×4 fashion, the brakes, the suspension, the axles and the front differential have all been upgraded.
Despite having a large 105-kWh battery pack, this Bronco only does 175–200 miles (292–322 km) on a charge. On the upside, you can top it up from 20 to 80 percent in less than an hour thanks to a 400V electric system on board. A home charger will accomplish the same overnight.
The electromod seen here is known as the Blue Star. It’s the first out of 10 planned units. Prices start from $449,000 before any options – that’s modern supercar money, electric or otherwise.
