An owner of a 2024 Ford Mustang GT has tuned it to resemble Lightning McQueen – the protagonist of animated movie Cars. He took care to reproduce the body graphics with great precision and modded the suspension while he was at it.
According to Carscoops, this is not the first car coming from this tuner to wear Cars cosplay, but this one looks especially striking with its Race Red livery. Among the decals it wears are lightning symbols, the number 95, and Rust-eze badges on the hood and the rear fenders. The windshield has ‘eyes’ glued onto it, but the builder claims they are see-through and do nothing to obscure visibility. The rear window sports three red stripes, the wheels do their best to mix in, and the Continental tires sport ‘Lightyear’ lettering that wasn’t there from the factory.
The 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 under the hood is stock, still making its 487 PS (480 hp / 358 kW) and 562 Nm (415 lb-ft) of torque. A Steeda H-Pipe resonator makes the exhaust louder, and RTR springs in suspension bring the ride closer to the asphalt.
The author of the project is none other than Andy de la Vega, widely known online as McQueen Atlanta. He is regularly taking his car to parties and fundraising events. Before he bought the new Mustang GT, he used to drive a first-generation example that received the same stylistic treatment.
