Geely has announced a new range-extender hybrid crossover named the Boyue REV. It has little in common with the current Boyue/Atlas model and instead rides on an EV platform promising up to 1,525 kilometers of range. The sales should start in several weeks.
Despite its confusing naming, the Boyue REV is based on the same underpinnings as the fully electric Livan 7. That one failed to sell in China and was promptly scrapped, but Geely must have reasoned that it would do fine as a hybrid under its own branding. As a result, the car looks basically the same as the Livan 7, coming in at 4,680 mm (182.8 inches) long with a wheelbase of 2,778 mm (108.5 inches).
Unlike the exterior, the cabin is actually improved from the Livan 7, The transmission tunnel houses physical buttons, a couple of cup holders and a rotary knob for handy access to most in-car functions. The climate vents on the dash are new, too, and the transmission selector now sits at the steering column. The digital dash display, the large head unit and the wireless charging pad stay unchanged.
A 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated petrol engine under the hood produces 112 PS (110 hp / 82 kW) generating power for the motors. It’s still unknown how many of those the Geely Boyue REV has, but the company claims that the all-electric range reaches 375 km (233 miles). Fire up the engine, and it goes up to the 1,525 km (947 miles) mentioned above.
