Opulent Geely Galaxy V900 hybrid reaches showrooms

Geely has started selling its Galaxy V900 range-extender minivan in China. Advertised as a flagship, it seats from six to eight passengers with seven being the default option.

The exterior blends together retro and modern styling cues. It sports a chrome-coated grille, a cascading front end and multi-spoke wheels available in 18 and 20 inches. The external dimensions are 5,360 x 1,998 x 1,940 mm (209.4 x 78 x 75.8 inches). The wheelbase spans 3.2 meters, or 125 inches.

If the numbers sound vaguely familiar, that’s because the Galaxy V900 is related to the all-electric LEVC L380, a minivan that first debuted under British branding and later came to China. It never sold well, though, which may explain why Geely decided to hybridize it with a range-extender engine.

Inside, the front seats come equipped with heating and ventilation by default, the climate control system has three configurable zones, and a semi-autonomous driving package is provided free of charge. Paying extra gets you a panoramic roof, air suspension and a ceiling TV for the passengers in the back, just to name a few highlights. The top trim can be optioned with Nappa leather and heated/ventilated seats in all three rows, as well as massage seats in the first two.

A 1.5-liter petrol engine rated at 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) generates electricity for dual motors driving all four wheels. Their combined output comes to 462 PS (456 hp / 340 kW) and 523 Nm (386 lb-ft) of torque. Depending on your chosen spec and battery size, all-electric range can vary from 172 to 260 kilometers (107–161 miles).

Prices start from 309,800 CNY, which converts into U.S. $44,500. The first buyers will be getting a special edition with a genuine gold emblem on the hood and other such gimmicks.
