The famous Italian coachbuilder and exclusive vehicle manufacturer has announced its next big work. Running on a Honda NSX chassis, it is being billed as a “tribute” to the legendary sports car, not just a restomod.
The teaser pic contains the Honda logo and the words “NSX Tribute” executed in the same typeface as on the original car (see video). It’s still unclear whether the new car will ride on the first-generation NSX chassis or a modern platform (we suspect the latter). It’s also unknown when Italdesign may reveal it, but the company is attending the Turin Auto Show in late September, so let’s keep our eyes peeled for it.
On an interesting side note, the original Honda NSX was actually co-designed by Pininfarina, an Italian coachbuilder widely considered the main rival of Italdesign. They came up with a concept called HP-X, which was later distilled into the iconic sports car we know as the NSX. In the summer of 2024, Honda announced working on fully restoring that concept to once again bring it to auto shows and other events. It’s unknown if Italdesign’s upcoming project has anything to do with it.
