The first mass-market example of the Ineos Grenadier SUV has just rolled off the assembly line in Hambach, France.
The newcomer is marketed as a successor-of-sorts to the classic Land Rover Defender, which has caused controversy because Land Rover is not affiliated in any way with Ineos Automotive. The carmaker has even sued the startup firm over the similarities between the Defender and the Grenadier, but ultimately wasn’t successful.
The production started three months behind the schedule, Ineos reports. Earlier announcements said manufacturing would be limited to smaller batches for the first two months. Full-blown production is still scheduled to begin at the end of the year.
Prices start from €60,000.
