Reports: Infiniti Q60 to retire in 2023

According to Automotive News, Infiniti will discontinue the Q60 coupe in the year 2023. No reasons are cited for the decision, but it does not take a genius to figure out what is going on.

A single look at the sales figures explains everything. In 2020, the company sold a dismal 2,792 units, marking a 44.6% decline from the previous year. The downward trend continued in the first half of 2021: the sales dipped by another 10% compared to the same period of 2020.

The latest generation came out in 2017, offering a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. A higher spec was also available with 405 PS (400 hp / 298 kW) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. You could choose between RWD and AWD, but the seven-speed automatic transmission was a given.

In 2017, Infiniti and the Renault F1 team introduced the Q60 Project Black S, a hybrid car concept capable of 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW). Rumors had been circulating that it would eventually make it into production, but it never did.
