Jay Leno tries out the monstrous Apocalypse Hellfire 6x6

We had seen various tuner shops converting trucks into six-wheeled mobile fortresses before, but Apocalypse Manufacturing probably outdid them in terms of sheer badassitude. The Hellfire 6x6 pictured here is a Jeep Gladiator at heart, but even Jay Leno would have a hard time telling.

The tuner claims it is already the 79th truck of this kind produced since launch. While weighing around 2.7 metric tons (6,000 lbs), it draws its power from a Chevy LS3 V8 rated at 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW). A three-liter twin-turbo diesel is also available, but we don’t have the numbers on it.

An eight-speed automatic transmission borrowed from a Ram 3500 Heavy Duty sends the momentum to all six wheels. Apocalypse says manual is also an option, but it is not recommended due to the clutch breaking too often under the load.

Things stay more or less stock in the cabin, unless you notice an extra display showing the video feed from a night vision camera mounted on the roof. The exterior gives off Tesla Cybertruck vibes, especially where the cab meets the bed, and comes clad in armor-like panels. As far as we know, the armor is just for show and won’t stop any bullets.

In the end, Jay Leno was impressed with the design and engineering effort that went into the project, although he did admit he did not particularly care for this kind of vehicles.
