Jeep brings back the V8-packing Jeep Wrangler Willys 392

Having had enough of Stellantis and its low-displacement engine strategy, Jeep is now trying to win back the off-roader market it had lost. Over these 12 months alone, the company will be unveiling 12 Wrangler special editions dedicated to making Jeep fun to drive again. The example seen here is number 4 of the batch, and is known as the Wrangler Willys 392.

Coming in a limited series but without a predefined production quantity, the SUV boasts a Goldilocks exterior with special decals and beadlock-protected wheels. These come shod in 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires for serious off-roading. New stainless-steel bumpers are also included, but a winch will cost extra.

The interior gives off a pleasant premium vibe with Nappa leather on the seats, advanced Alpine audio on board and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. The front seats are heated and have power adjustments in the base spec. Drivers get all the necessary hardware for trailer towing, a Selec-Trac transfer case, and an electronic diff lock for the rear end, as well as whopping 282 mm (11 inches) of ground clearance.

Power for the new Willys 392 comes from a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine rated at 485 PS (477 hp / 357 kW) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque. Sprinting from zero to 96 km/h (0-60 mph) succeeds in 4.5 seconds.

The first SUVs will ship in the United States in March, priced from around $70,000.
