V8 or W16? Two ultimate cars muscle it out in a drag race

The fans of the Swedish-born Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut and their rivals from the Bugatti Chiron camp have long dreamt about a race to find out which £5 million ride is cooler than the other. CarWOW has the answer in their latest video.

Matt Watson somehow managed to procure a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport and a Jesko Absolut for his traditional quarter-mile test. The former came equipped with an 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 rated at 1,600 PS (1,578 hp / 1,177 kW) and 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is seven-speed multi-clutch, and the drive is on all four wheels.

In turn, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut approached the start line with a deceptively tame-looking 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Don’t be fooled, though: the mill burns through E85 fuel to output the same 1,600 PS as its French rival, plus 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque. It also benefits from an in-house-designed nine-speed semi-auto transmission, but keeps the drive on the rear axle only.

Perhaps most crucially, though, the Bugatti weighs in at 1,995 kilograms (4,399 pounds). That surely sounds light enough, but the Koenigsegg is by far the lighter of the two at 1,390 kilos (3,065 lbs). In other words, that W16 has its work cut out for it.
Watch the full race to find out how the two compared (spoiler: very closely, but a winner was still crowned).
