A special Defender SUV has been spotted and photographed on the Nürburgring in Germany. Reports are coming in that it is the upcoming flagship trim called ‘SVX’.
The British automaker did a solid job disguising the vehicle, but a new bumper and new vents at the front can still be discerned upon closer inspection. The wrap cannot conceal the extended wheel arches, either, and the same applies to four round tailpipes. Unless these are fake, there must be a V8 under that hood.
Unofficial sources claim that the new Defender SVX will ship with BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood. The old engine had five liters of displacement. The BMW mill powers crossovers like the X5 M Competition with 625 PS (616 hp / 460 kW), and it looks plausible that the British off-roader will get the same or similar specs.
The premiere date is still unknown.
