This Mazda MX-5 on sale makes a convincing Ferrari 250 GTO

A rather uncommon and bizarre modification of the Mazda MX-5/Miata is up for sale in the USA right now. Dubbed the Eunos Roadster, the 31-year-old ride looks more like a Ferrari 250 GTO with some aftermarket mods on. The seller claims it is rare, but the bidding has yet to pass the $10,000 mark.

The Japanese roadster looks much like the legendary Italian supercar thanks to a styling kit from Monocraft. This includes round headlights, a recognizable oval radiator grille, a bulging hood and a trio of triangular air intakes. The photos make it seem like the front fascia is a single solid piece that you can flip up to reveal the engine, although it is not shown. The side mirrors boast a retro look.

At the rear end, the bumper is new and there are new details helping create a smoother transition between the top and the trunk. The taillights are stock, though.

In addition to the above, the build features Tein coilovers, a Nardi steering wheel and a Bride driver’s seat. The center console sports a different trim, but that’s about all.

Unlike its iconic source of inspiration, the Mazda utilizes its usual 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW) in tandem with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer reports around 75,600 kilometers (47,000 miles) of use.
