Nissan to wrap up Titan production as it prioritizes the EV market

The Nissan factory in Canton, Missouri, USA, will stop assembling Titan trucks next summer, Carscoops reports quoting an official comment received from the automaker. According to it, the decision was made in line with the company’s global electrification strategy named Ambition 2030.

The second generation of the Titan debuted in early 2015. Nissan invested $230 million into upgrading it, revealing a restyled truck in 2019. Despite packing a powerful V8 under the hood, though, it never met the sales expectations. In 2022, the model didn’t even make it into the top-15 list of sellers in its own category in the USA.

Nissan still unveiled a 2024-model-year Titan a few days ago, but stressed that it would also be its last year in production. The trim options have also been revised, and the cheapest version on sale now costs $47,665 – a $6,170 premium over the previous model year.

According to the internal documents that Carscoops got its hands on, Nissan has no current plans to downsize the staff of its Canton industrial complex or its factory in Decherd, Tennessee, where engines for the Titan are being made.
