A single glance at this 1970 Plymouth Barracuda may not tell you whether it is a stock car or a restomod – and that’s what makes it so alluring and unique. Built by the late Dave Walden for the 2016 SEMA show, it was meant to demonstrate us what a four-door Barracuda would have looked like if it ever went in production.
To achieve the sleek OEM look, Walden designed stainless-steel bodywork from the ground up, reworked the doors and the glass dome, and added a contrasting roof. The result does indeed look like something that belongs in the 1970s.
Powering the unique ride is a V8 equipped with four carburetors and two exhausts. An automatic transmission carries up to 279 PS (275 hp / 205 kW) to the wheels. The original Barracuda had around the same amount of power, but went manual-only.
The impressive restomod will be heading to a Mecum sale starting on January 4, 2023. The price is not mentioned in the listing.
