Exotic Porsche 356 replica on British underpinnings goes on sale

A nice-looking replica of the legendary Porsche 356 is up for bidding on eBay UK right now, sitting at £20,600 with two days left on the clock. Based on a first-gen Lotus Elise chassis, it relies on a heavily tuned Honda four-pot to endow it with a sporty character.

The owner of the car wanted to pay homage to the iconic Porsche 356, which remains a highly desirable classic car after 70+ years. In fact, Porsche took it on a world tour (see video) to prove that it’s still a supremely capable model.

Lacking the funds for the original, the creator of the replica about an Elise from the late 1990s and handed it over to Emory Motorsport for a visual makeover. It ended up with a completely new glass-fiber plastic body inspired by the 356, although the proportions are visibly off. The rear fenders in particular expose it for being a much more recent design.

For the engine, the owner settled on a Honda K24, a trusty 2.4-liter four-cylinder mill popular among tuners for its huge potential. The listing claims it sends 550 PS (542 hp / 405 kW) to the wheels – 4.5 times more than the first-generation Elise did.

It is also street-legal, but whoever buys it will need some repairs done before it can be driven again. For one, it is missing a couple of side windows. It’s also unclear how well-maintained the powertrain is and what the mileage is like.
