Another company rolls out a modern Porsche 718 lookalike

Just yesterday, we told you about a modern Porsche 356 Speedster replica offered by a Missouri-based company named Stärke. Today, we found out that Signature Autosports, from North Carolina, launched a very similar-looking car.

Whereas the build from yesterday uses a fourth-generation Boxster or Cayman platform, the one seen here is based on the older generations I and II. Which isn’t to say that the differences show: the entire bodywork gets replaced, round LED headlights get installed at the front and droplet-shaped brake lights complement them at the back. A rear spoiler helps with the downforce, while aerodynamic humps behind the seats reduce air swirling and wind noise.

All propulsion is handled by a 3.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine rated at 324 PS (320 hp / 238 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque. Customers can choose between six-speed manual and seven-speed PDK for the transmission, but any suspension or brake upgrades will cost extra.

The interior gets a Pepita fabric makeover along with modern niceties like climate control, heated seats and multimedia equipment.

A ready-made 356 Speedster replica like the one seen here starts just under $200,000. What’s intriguing is that we were able to find a very similar-looking build called the Iconic Autobody 387 Speedster by Total Headturners in the UK (see video). Back in 2020, it went on sale for the equivalent of U.S. $84,000. We are unaware of any connection between these projects, but it looks like the pricing is all over the place, so you’ll be better off researching your options before committing to a purchase.
