Subaru bringing a pair of STI sports cars to Tokyo

Subaru’s Japan Mobility Show lineup will include two mysterious concept vehicles wearing the sporty STI badge. One will be powered by an electric system, while the other one will utilize a traditional engine.

Starting with the Performance-E STI, the company says it wears a well-appointed aero kit while still managing to keep owners covered with a spacious and practical cabin for everyday use. In turn, the gas-guzzling Performance-B STI uses a flat-plane engine to drive its four wheels with class-leading power and torque, all while delivering great practicality for daily driving.

Sounds intriguing, but the teaser images leave us no wiser as to what body style the two concepts even have. Subaru’s dedicated website for the JMS-2025 contains another darkened photo of these cars where they appear from a different angle in the background of the legendary Subaru GL wagon once commissioned for stunts by Travis Pastrana (see video). The GL will also be present at the Tokyo show, by the way.

This image seems to suggest that both prototypes are five-door hatchbacks. Aside from them, Subaru will be bringing a couple of SUVs to the show that it had previously introduced in various countries around the world.
