Ram TRX goes up against a Cybertruck in a biased match

Think what you will of Elon Musk, but his weird electric truck continues to make headline after headline. Most of these are about it overtaking some ICE car or another on the drag strip, which is frankly nothing new and rather boring, too. Hennessey Performance decided to see if it could make a more compelling comparison by racing the Cybertruck against a heavily tuned Ram 1500 TRX.

Before we start, though, let’s be clear: the Cybertruck seen here isn’t the range-topping Cyberbeast spec sending 857 PS (845 hp / 630 kW) to the wheels. Instead, it is a dual-motor “AWD” spec rated at only 609 PS (600 hp / 447 kW). You can order one starting from U.S. $76,390.

In turn, the TRX packs 712 PS (702 hp / 524 kW) straight from the factory and the example seen here is far from stock. A multitude of performance mods made by Hennessey ramps up its output to 1,026 PS (1,012 hp / 755 kW) and 1,315 Nm (970 lb-ft) of torque. It also starts from $152,500 before any options with this kind of tuning – basically twice as much as the Cybertruck in the video.

Long story short, it’s refreshing to see Musk’s EV lose a few drag races for a change, but we can’t call it a fair fight. In fact, considering that the Ram is nearly twice as powerful and at least twice as expensive, the gap between the two seems remarkably small.

And what do you think?
