The Donkervoort P24 RS is a flexible, road-legal track machine

Niche automaker Donkervoort has unveiled the P24 RS, its most advanced and extreme sports car designed for serious motorsport applications while remaining street-legal.

The biggest selling point of the space-frame two-seater is its power-to-weight ratio. Using a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6, the car sends 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) to the wheels while weighing as little as 780 kilograms (1,720 pounds). A five-speed manual transmission conveys the momentum via a carbon-fiber crankshaft.

The weight is measured before any liquids, but it’s still very impressive. Equipped like this, the P24 RS zips from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.5 seconds. It also hits 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.4 seconds and doesn’t max out until after 300 km/h (186 mph).

Drivers can freely adjust suspension across many parameters, tweak the aero kit and even cap the engine output at a certain number. Every car comes with multiple drive presets to switch among, but no power steering, ABS or AC: these are all listed under paid options.

Speaking of which: no pricing details have been announced, but Donkervoort claims it’s already found buyers for roughly 50 out of the 150 P24 RS units planned for production. The first deliveries will be made in April.
