Toyota Mark X says goodbye with the 250S Final Edition

The life cycle of the Toyota Mark X mid-size sedan/saloon series is coming to an end. Production of the car which came out in 1968 will be permanently discontinued in December 2019. According to the latest reports, Toyota will commemorate the model by releasing a farewell mini-series in Japan.

There will be two versions to choose from: the rear-wheel-driven Mark X 250S Final Edition that costs 3,331,800 JPY (~29,800 USD) and the AWD 250S Four Final Edition priced from 3.489,480 JPY (~31,230 USD). Both will ship with the same 2.5-liter gas engine rated at 203 hp / 152 kW in base, but you may opt for a stronger, more expensive engine if you wish.

The Final Edition comes in three paint schemes to choose from (Silver, White Pearl and Black Pearl) and boasts a custom front bumper with black chrome inserts alongside aluminum rims measuring between 16 and 18 inches in diameter.

The interior sports red/black upholstery with fine leather covering the gear selector and the steering wheel and some imitation leather combined with Alcantara used in other places.

By the way, the car used to be marketed as the Toyota Mark II from 1968 through 2004, when it was finally renamed to the Mark X. The current generation has been around since 2009 and has received two facelifts since its launch.
