Unexpectedly, Volvo proclaims XC60 its new bestseller

Having sold around 2.68 million units from 1974 until 1993, the Volvo 240 is widely regarded as the Swedish automaker’s most popular car in history. The company has now made a surprising announcement, saying it has moved over 2.7 million units of the XC60.

The XC60 SUV debuted in 2008. It was originally only sold in Europe, but the company later decided to offer it all around the globe, making it the first truly international Volvo. It was even offered in China. Volvo used to compare the model to the wagon-bodied 240, claiming that both were “perfect family cars” and saying that “many who grew up with a 240 are now choosing an XC60”.

Commenting on this new milestone, Volvo added that the XC60 would get many upgrades heading into 2026, including design tweaks, UI and UX (multimedia control responsiveness) improvements, and higher driving comfort than ever.
