Porsche makes vinyl records out of concept racecar sleeks

Porsche has used the last remaining tire set of its 919 Hybrid Concept racecar to create 200 vinyl records, each one holding the same 24 stories dedicated to the German luxury carmaker’s history of participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The company sliced the sleeks to pieces, then chopped and diced them to get even smaller bits, and finally compacted these bits into individual discs. One side of each disc now carries a groove with the recording, while the other side remains completely smooth – just like the tire it was made of used to be.

The collection includes stories by Hans-Joachim Stuck, who has won the gold of the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, as well as Chad McQueen, Wolfgang Porsche, and others.

Porsche will sell all the discs at an auction planned for the end of the month and redirect all profits to charity.
